Laura Kingsbury
Laura was born in Brockville, Ontario, grew up in Ottawa, and now resides in Merrickville, Ontario, with her husband. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a B.Sc. in Wildlife Biology and Management. Laura has since worked as a research biologist with the Canadian Wildlife Service and as a Naturalist/Interpreter with the National Capital Commission in Ottawa and with several Toronto area Conservation Authorities. She also trained as a Volunteer Guide at the Metro Toronto Zoo.
A self-taught artist, Laura has worked mostly in watercolour, but more recently in acrylics. She has been painting professionally for over 40 years and has become well known for her sensitive portrayals of our native wildlife, especially the birds. Her more recent landscapes in Acrylic have garnered her much praise, winning awards in juried art shows.
Her originals and prints are sought by private and corporate collectors in many countries, including England, Australia, Germany, Russia, Zambia, Switzerland, and the United States. Two of her Limited Edition Prints have been presented by the Canadian Government to the presidents of Zambia and the Russian Federation, Kenneth Kuanda and Boris Yeltsin.
