Celebrate National Poetry Month at Arts Hub Poetry Reading & Open Mic
Every year, Canada celebrates the timeless art of poetry in April.
You can’t hold back Spring (wrote Tom Waits), and you can’t hold back poets from writing. From coast-to-coast-to coast, audiences enjoy hearing poems read aloud by poets. Sponsored by the League of Canadian Poets, every year has a theme. For 2025, it is FAMILY.
All over our country in April, poets share their work. They host readings, facilitate workshops, Spoken Word, and Poetry Slams. Poets also bring poetry into schools and retirement residences. They launch books, write spontaneous poetry for people, and read their poetry in libraries. All this helps promotes the reading, writing and teaching of poetry. It also brings people together to celebrate one of our most treasured forms of literature, and one that plays a vital role in expressing many cultural and linguistic identities.
You have a chance to join in the celebration! Poetry Brockville is hosting a reading on Saturday April 26th from 7pm to 9 pm at The Arts Hub Studio Space, 32 Park Street in Brockville. There are four featured poets including Carolyn Ciccoritti, Lois Lorimer, and Alice McMurtry. An Open Mic will be available for the first three people who sign up at the door.
Whether you are new to poetry, have never attended a reading before, or just happy to enjoy a form of literature that has been with us for centuries, you will be warmly welcomed.
This is a FREE event. (With a PWYC option) We hope you will join us for this entertaining and celebratory literary event in Brockville.
Presenting Poets: Carolyn Ciccoritti, Alice McMurtry, and Lois Lorimer. There will be another poet TBD. Also open mic for poets.
